In response toDeadline, Humans writers Jonathan Brackley and Sam Vincent are engaged on an adaptation of Philip Ok. Dick’s 1953 novella, The Variable Man. The present is being produced by Motive Footage in a partnership with Electrical Shepherd Productions, which is run by the late writer’s daughter, Isa Dick Hackett. The Variable Man follows a tinkerer turned unintended time traveler named Thomas Cole, who’s transported from 1913 into the long run and immediately finds himself a reluctant participant in an interplanetary battle.
It’s being written for a UK broadcaster, in response to Deadline, however there could also be hope for a US launch. “Once you’ve received Sam and John doing what they did so brilliantly with People and exploring the fashionable world by a style lens, it’s one thing that may completely entice broadcasters within the US,” Motive CEO Simon Maxwell advised the publication. I actually loved The Variable Man again once I learn it and I’ll give any PKD adaptation an opportunity, so right here’s hoping we get one other good one on this collection.
