Ritual Launches Blockchain for Autonomous AI Agents

Ritual, an AI research company founded by former Polychain Capital partners, has launched Ritual Chain, an EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain designed for autonomous AI agents. The network allows applications to access AI models, process private data, manage funds, and schedule tasks without constant human involvement.

Ritual Chain is built to support AI agents that can operate independently for months or years. Each agent can maintain its own state, control funds through a non-custodial wallet, and continue working even if its creator goes offline. Trusted execution environments help protect sensitive data from computing providers.

The network introduces 15 native precompiles that enable smart contracts to access language models, retrieve web data, perform private computations, and schedule future tasks. Its execution model allows specialized nodes to handle complex computations while the network verifies the results.

Ritual Chain launches with support from Phala Network, a confidential computing infrastructure provider, LayerZero, a cross-chain messaging protocol, Stargate, a cross-chain asset transfer platform, and Nous Research, an AI research company. USDC transfers between Ritual Chain and other networks are available through Stargate.

The public testnet has been running since June and has processed more than 40 million transactions. The network also reports block times below 300 milliseconds. Its protocol has been audited by Zellic, a blockchain security firm.
