Telegram Founder Pavel Durov Announced a Major Update for Toncoin (TON) Is Coming Tomorrow

Telegram founder and CEO Pavel Durov announced a significant increase in network transaction speed following a major upgrade to the Toncoin ($TON) blockchain.

Durov stated that the network has sped up by approximately 10 times, block production has increased by 6 times, and transactions are now almost instantaneous, taking less than a second.

According to the official statement from $TON, this upgrade will be activated on the mainnet on April 10, 2026, and the “sub-second accuracy” time is now the standard. The statement indicates that transaction confirmation times, which previously took approximately 10 seconds, have been reduced to around 1 second with the new update.

At the heart of the upgrade is Catchain 2.0, which reshapes the network’s consensus mechanism. With the new system, blocks are created approximately every 400 milliseconds, and the improved data flow layer can deliver updates to applications almost instantly. This significantly reduces the network’s transaction consensus time and noticeably improves the user experience.

With this development, the delay between transaction and confirmation on the user side is virtually eliminated. Payments are completed in approximately one second, transactions can occur in real time, and applications can react instantly. It is argued that the multi-second delays previously frequently encountered in blockchain-based applications have been largely eliminated.

It was also stated that the update affected the network’s economic structure. Increased block production will raise validator rewards, thus increasing staking incentives. In this context, $TON’s annual inflation rate is expected to rise from approximately 0.6% to 3.6%. However, it is predicted that rewards will settle into a new equilibrium over time as staking participation increases.
