OpenZeppelin, the blockchain security firm S&P Global agreed to acquire in September, is integrating Chainlink infrastructure into its development tools under a new partnership designed to support institutional adoption of onchain finance.
The agreement, announced on Oct. 20, brings Chainlink’s CCIP cross-chain protocol and ACE compliance engine directly into OpenZeppelin’s tooling, while creating a route for applicable OpenZeppelin Defender workflows to migrate to Chainlink Runtime Environment, which will support more advanced financial applications.
The CCIP and ACE features are available through OpenZeppelin’s Wizards, AI tooling, Skills and documentation. The integration gives developers a configuration path for cross-chain token compatibility and compliance controls, including sanctions screening, KYC checks, volume limits and Secure Mint.
The tools support ERC-20 and ERC-3643 tokens, with future standards also planned, and allow compliance policies to be updated without redeploying the underlying token contract. Support for OpenZeppelin’s UI Builder is expected in a future release, the companies stated.
OpenZeppelin and Chainlink also plan to introduce three institutional reference solutions in the coming months. Each will combine smart contracts and CRE workflows with deployable code, technical architecture documentation, threat models and security considerations.
Initial releases will be available for private evaluation, internal development, testing and customer demonstrations. OpenZeppelin has published a Defender-to-CRE migration guide with a worked example and plans to provide targeted support for eligible teams.
The companies said the partnership will help institutions build tokenized financial products with compliance controls integrated into their design and connect applications across public, private and enterprise blockchains.
