Shibarium, the layer-2 blockchain solution for the Shiba Inu (SHIB) ecosystem, has surpassed a crucial block milestone. This comes less than a week after U.Today predicted it could happen, given the activities it monitored on the platform.
Shibarium's fast blocks behind high adoption
According to data from Shibariumscan, the total number of blocks has surpassed 12 million. As of press time, total blocks now stand at 12,009,576. This is a significant event in the history of the layer-2 platform, which has continued to record organic growth.
The surge in the number of blocks signals increased adoption, possibly due to its speed in the Ethereum L2 ecosystem. Notably, Shibarium has a five-second average block production time, and this has made it a favorite among L2 protocols.
Other indicators that Shibarium is gaining massive traction are evident in the number of transactions. The protocol has registered a total of 1,373,025,440 transactions. This is from a total of 267,232,505 addresses.
This significant milestone is made possible as a result of consistency in the volume of daily transactions. The figure remains in the one-million range, with the last daily transaction tracked at 4.59 million.
With the block milestone attained, users are looking forward to the 1.4 billion transaction breakthrough happening before the end of the third quarter of 2025.
SHIB price responds to network growth
Amid Shibarium’s growing adoption, the ecosystem recently urged developers to implement two crucial updates. These were Heimdall and Boric static nodes. The move was to enhance network connectivity and ensure scalability in the protocol.
The goal is to maintain the reliability of Shibarium and make the ecosystem stronger for users. Doing this would help reduce cases of single-point failures on nodes.
Shibarium is not the only protocol registering growth. Shiba Inu has, within the last 24 hours, appreciated by 5.5% as the price climbed to $0.00001384. Trading volume has followed with a 55.33% uptick at $323.5 million.
